DARE:

Drug and Alcohol Recovery

and Education Network

The displaced ethnic people of Burma have long been oppressed, tortured and ethnically cleansed by the intransigent military that holds power over the country by force.  The refugees and displaced people have lost everything.

Addiction is a natural coping strategy against trauma, torture, rape and murder, loss of freedom, and loss of traditional way of life.

Recovery from addiction is viewed by the people as a non-violent resistance against this oppression.  A free mind cannot be destroyed.

The creation of  the DARE  Network is about sharing hope.

DARE is a diverse cross-section of people who work together to help their peers to learn, to have power over drugs and alcohol, and to share that knowledge with others.

DARE is possible through the loving care and support of teams who understand.
